Here I am World!

Well, I am not as computer savvy as my brother. It has taken me almost 2 weeks to get started with blogging. But my Mom insists I start early, so here I am.

I arrived in the world rapidly on Monday, March 31st, 2008. My Mom started having contractions while she was making dinner on Sunday at about 4:00. They were sporadic, and she chalked it up to having been on her feet all day. Mom, Dad and Ben went downstairs and had dinner with Heather and Travis and played. They came back up for Ben's bedtime, Mom and Dad watched a movie and then went to bed at about 10. Then I really decided it was time to come. My Mom had contractions that weren't too close together, but they hurt a lot, so at about midnight Mom took a shower and decided to try the hospital. She called Grandma and Grandpa to see if someone could come and be here with Benjamin while she and Daddy went to the hospital. Grandma and Grandpa got here at 1:30am and the contractions were 3 minutes apart. Mom checked in to the hospital at 2:05am, they checked and she was dilated to 6cm. They called for an epidural, the Dr. came in and Mom was dilated to 9cm. They started the epidural, waited until Mom's pain level went down, then Mom pushed and I came. My official birth time is 4:07am. My Mom has asked me to tell my Grandma and Grandpa that they do not need to call and wish me a happy birthday at my exact birth time like they do with Benjamin. That will just wake everyone up.

I weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces when I was born and was 19 and a half inches long. My hair is brown, it looks dark normally, but lighter in the sun. My Mom thinks there is a little bit of red in it, but it is still too early to tell for sure. My eyes are grey-blue for now, which my Dad says means that I have my Grandma's eyes and no one will ever know what color they are (except for a Kresal woman who will exclaim with delight that they never realized how green my eyes are!) And of course, everyone else will roll their eyes knowing that there isn't a speck of green in my beautiful irises. :)

I go back to the pediatrician tomorrow, Friday, to get my weight checked. I should be back up to my birth weight, so we are keeping our fingers and toes crossed. (I also have my arms and legs crossed). So far life has been exciting. I like to eat - A LOT! Pooping is not my favorite thing. I do "Lamaze" breathing when I have to go, and I let out little cries. My Mom giggles at me, but she is a supportive "coach." I still sleep most of the time. I have funny dreams, at least my Mom says I do because I laugh and smile a lot while I sleep. Speaking of sleep, it's time for me to get back to it. Mom is hoping for a repeat of Tuesday night when I slept from 9:30 until 5am. Wish her luck!

Hugs and Cuddles,
Sofia

Hailey- need more pics of Sofia. Can't wait to see how she's changed. Gabe is changing so much too. So a while back from your blog it sounded like you are moving to Florida? Is that happening? I hope not , cause we are coming down in Sept and want to see you guys. Gabe and Sofia will be 6 months by then!

Yeah, Sophia! So glad to know that you are here (even though I am a little slow in saying so!) You and your brother are going to have so much fun together. Lucky Hailey and Charles!
